I like my shows and my movies. But as we all know, babies need your time and attention. So, no time means no shows. But babies need to sleep and that my friends, is when I can watch my shows. Lately, baby girl has been regressing and I’ve been enforcing strict crib naps (no nap trapping for me anymore. If you don’t know what nap trapping is, TikTok it) so I’m only able to watch my shows 30 minutes at a time, an hour if I’m lucky and if the husband is able to help during the week.
Let’s do a rundown.
Rules:
Monthly (for now. To see if I like this enough)
Jot my notes down as I go. Maybe I'll update them as I watch if I don’t forget so be nice to me the first few go rounds
Joint watches with husband aren’t included in this series. These shows are mainly my comfort watches, shows I check first to see if it’s worth mentioning to the husband, reality shows etc.
Poppa’s House (CBS): It’s a Wayans production so expectations are sky high but it’s also CBS so my expectations are brought back down. It got off to a rough start but once Wendy Raquel Robinson joined in, I laughed. I like Damon Wayans x2 so I’m trying to understand why this isn’t sticking to me like it should. I’ll say I’m not a fan of how black people are represented on CBS1 . I’ll finish out the season soon and revisit.
Missing You (Netflix): Okay, so I’ve watched another Harlan Coben show on Amazon Prime and something’s missing. I haven’t read his books but if this how it goes — anyways, I can’t afford to miss precious nap time on so-so stuff.
Earth Abides (Amazon Prime): A “last man on Earth” trope. Haven’t decided if I want to finish it or not. But clap clap to Alexander Ludwig, I like him.
Jerry Springer Doc (Netflix): So they make Jerry Springer out to be a figurehead and try to clear him of anything and make him look like a saint? But also try to hold him accountable for something that may or may not have been his fault? And also they may have fled to Jamaica to avoid being subpoenaed (which is wild because I remember that but because I was a child I just thought it was MTV’s Spring Break)?
Traitors US (Peacock): So because this is ongoing, I’ll try not to spoil and just censor my thoughts *ahem*. I need Bob the Drag Queen and Danielle to go far. Also need Danielle to STOP TALKING PLEASE. (later on) BOB NO! ROB NO!
Severance (Apple TV): deserves a mention: WE BACK!
XO, Kitty (Netflix): I loved To All The Boys so I’m all in on Kitty but I don’t remember her being this selfish when it came to her friends (I’m not saying she’s very selfish but she’s a little unaware of Q’s situations and ion lyk det)
SHRINKING (Apple TV): Is one of my favorite shows. I’m already obsessed with Jason Segel (don’t ask me how many times I watched Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Fred is sick of me) and why haven’t we gotten more funny Harrison Ford? Jessica Williams is perfect. This cast is perfect. Harrison Ford saying “You’re kidnapping me?!” in that glorious shocked face and Michael Urie (from Ugly Betty) yelling his whole bear reaction are my favorite moments from this show (not season, show). Nope, just watched another episode, it’s Jason Segel choking on a grape and his daughter’s date saving his life. Actually, it’s the adoption agent saying, “What’s Grindr? Wink.”
And that’s the January wrap-up! What shows are you watching?
BB15 soured me. It’s not Candice’s fault and she wasn’t protected like she should’ve been
